First Stop.....McCarran International Airport

Most likely the first place you are going to come to when you get to Las Vegas is McCarran International Airport.  It is a super simple airport to get around in.

They are doing a lot of upgrades right now, so you will be walking a bit, but it is not too bad.  There is a tram in some of the terminals which makes it a bit easier to get to the baggage claim area.

Once you get to the baggage claim, it is very easy to grab your bags and go.  From my experience, my bags are usually waiting for me on the carousel when I get down there.

And of course, transportation is readily available.  There is a cab stand.  But a word of advice, if the cabby takes you on the highway and your hotel is on the strip, they are milking you for extra money.  There are shuttle buses too.  It is $7.50 one way per person and a round trip is just about $15.  This is a great choice and is convient.  However, if you like to get to Vegas first thing in the morning like I do, you will waste a lot of time waiting for them to take you to your hotel.  They prefer to have as many passangers as possible if not a full load.  So if you do go with the shuttle be prepared to wait.

My new favorite way to get around in Las Vegas is Uber/Lyft.  Although I stick with Uber.  The one downfall with rideshare is that it is located on a different level than all the other ground transportation.  You are going to have to go down to pick up your bags and then up in 2 different elevators to get to the rideshare area.  What I usually do is order my ride once I get out of the first elevator.  They will charge you a little extra if they have to wait for you.

Please remember when using a rideshare to check and make sure you are getting into the right vehicle.  Check the license plate number and also the name of the driver.  I have noticed a lot of times they will also check to make sure you are the right person as well.

It will cost around $15 to take the rideshare but I think it isd totally worth it, especially if there is more than one of you traveling.

Also avail are limos and town cars.  The town car is about $50 and they will make stops if you wish to the liquor store or dispensary.

If you have any questions, reach out and I will get the answers you need.
